1778Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) | President

Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day, but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, unalterable through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematical plan of reducing us to slavery.

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government) those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle. The real extent of this state of misinformation is known only to those who are in situations to confront facts within their knowledge with the lies of the day. I really look with commiseration over the great body of my fellow citizens who, reading newspapers, live and die in the belief that they have known something of what has been passing in the world in their time; whereas the accounts they have read in newspapers are just as true a history of any other period of the world as of the present, except that the real names of the day are affixed to their fables.

I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.

I hope we shall take warning from the example {of England} and crush in it's birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws our country.

I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government; I mean an additional article taking from the Federal Government the power of borrowing.

...But this, the only resource which the government could command with certainty, the States have unfortunately fooled away, nay corruptly alienated to swindlers and shavers, under the cover of private banks. Say, too, as an additional evil, that the disposal funds of individuals, to this great amount, have thus been withdrawn from improvement and useful enterprise, and employed in the useless, usurious and demoralizing practices of bank directors and their accomplices... The States should be applied to, to transfer the right of issuing circulating paper to Congress exclusively, in perpetuum, if possible... Bank paper must be suppressed, and the circulating medium must be restored to the nation to whom it belongs.

When people fear the government, you have tyranny, but when government fears the people, you have liberty.

In questions of power... let no more be heard of confidence in men, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution.

The whole of government consists in the art of being honest.

If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.

If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.

1787John Adams (1735-1826) | President

2nd President of the US

All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America rise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.

From a letter to Thomas Jefferson (who would succeed him as president).

1795James Madison (1751-1836) | President

Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded... War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few... No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

1798George Washington (1732-1799) | President

One of fourteen Masons who have been US Presidents.

It is not my intention to doubt that the doctrine of the Illuminati and the principles of Jacobinism had not spread in the United States. On the contrary, no one is more satisfied of this fact than I am.

I gave it as my opinion... that if these societies were not counteracted... they would shake the government to its foundations.

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports... Honesty is always the best policy.

Source of first quote: the Writings Of George Washington, published by the U.S. Government Printing Office, 1941. Vol.20; page 518. 2nd para same source as I recall.

Additional quote put in there cos it is good in the light of the 'need for secrecy', for national security.

1800Napoleon (1769-1821) | Emperor

...The Emperor turns away, and leaves the prisoner to his doom. To Champagny, who is present, he talks for a long time about the Illuminates. Then, with a sudden transition he says: "We must make peace..."

Napoleon, by Emil Ludwig (1924), page 343. In a 680 page book this is the one reference to the Illuminati (as we now call them). My father thought I'd find it interesting, and of course, I did! I record it here, merely so you can see they were discussed by world leaders globally at this time (cf. George Washingtons quote).

1820Nathan Rothschild (1777-1836) | banker

By 1825-6 he was able to supply enough coin to the Bank of England to enable it to avert a liquidity crisis.

I care not what puppet is placed upon the throne of England to rule the Empire on which the sun never sets. The man who controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply.

Date of quote not known exactly.

1820James Mill (1773-1836) | Political Philosopher

The benefits of the representative system are lost, in all cases in which the interests of the choosing body are not the same with those of the community.

From his essay on Government in The Encyclopedia Britannica of 1820.

1828Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) | President

One of fourteen masons who have been US Presidents. In office: 1829-1837. In 1832, Jackson vetoes a bill to renew the charter of the Bank of the United States. In 1833, he removes government funds from the Bank of the United States.

You are a den of vipers! I intend to rout you out, and by the Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.

Addressed to a group of investment bankers trying to persuade him to renew their charter.

1838Amschel Mayer Rothschild (1773-1855) | banker

Part of the banking dynasty.

Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation and I care not who makes its laws.

1844Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) | Prime Minister

Prime Minister of England

The world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes.

The governments of the present day have to deal not merely with other governments, with emperors, kings and ministers, but also with the secret societies which have everywhere their unscrupulous agents, and can at the last moment upset all the governments' plans.

In a novel he published in 1844 called Coningsby, the New Generation.

1852William Gladstone (1809-1898) | Prime Minister

Prime Minister of England

From the time I took office as Chancellor of the Exchequer I began to learn that the State held, in the face of the Bank and the City, an essentially false position as to finance. The Government was not to be the substantive power, but was to leave the Money Power supreme and unquestioned.

1863Rothschild Brothers | International Bankers

The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits or be so dependent upon its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of people, mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests.

The Rothschild Brothers of London writing to associates in New York, June 25, 1863.

1864Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) | President

The government should create, issue and circulate all the currency and credit needed to satisfy the spending power of the government and the buying power of consumers..... The privilege of creating and issuing money is not only the supreme prerogative of Government, but it is the Government's greatest creative opportunity. By the adoption of these principles, the long-felt want for a uniform medium will be satisfied. The taxpayers will be saved immense sums of interest, discounts and exchanges. The financing of all public enterprises, the maintenance of stable government and ordered progress, and the conduct of the Treasury will become matters of practical administration. The people can and will be furnished with a currency as safe as their own government. Money will cease to be the master and become the servant of humanity. Democracy will rise superior to the money power.

The money powers prey upon the nation in times of peace and conspire against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than a monarch, more insolent than autocracy and more selfish than a bureaucracy. It denounces, as public enemies, all who question its methods or throw light upon its crimes. I have two great enemies, the southern army in front of me and the financial institutions, in the rear. Of the two, the one in the rear is the greatest enemy..... I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of the war.

In 1862 Lincoln issued his government greenbacks, refusing to pay the 24-36% interest on the loans the banks were offering. Taken from November 21st letter to William Elkin.

1865Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898) | German Chancellor

The death of Lincoln was a disaster for Christendom. There was no man in the United States great enough to wear his boots and the bankers went anew to grab the riches. I fear that foreign bankers with their craftiness and tortuous tricks will entirely control the exuberant riches of America and use it to systematically corrupt modern civilization.

Commenting on Lincoln assassination.

1880John Swinton (1829-1901) | managing editor, New York Times

In about 1880, as a preeminent New York journalist, Swinton was the guest of honour at a banquet given him by the leaders of his craft. Someone who knew neither the press nor Swinton offered a toast to the independent press. Swinton outraged his colleagues by replying thus:

There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print.

I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.

The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press?

We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.

Research reveals that Swinton, after moving to New York, wrote an occasional article for the New York Times and was hired on a regular basis in 1860 as head of the editorial staff. Afterward holding this position throughout the Civil War, he left the paper in 1870 and became active in the labor struggles of the day. He later served eight years in the same position on the New York Sun and later published a weekly labor sheet, John Swinton's Paper. Link

I recently quoted this to a journalist, and he was nodding as I quoted it, and said, "Yes, my friends know that if they don't write with a particular slant it will be sub-edited into that, so they just follow the line."

1881James Garfield (1831-1881) | President

Assasinated within weeks of release of this statement during first year of his Presidency in 1881. One of fourteen masons who were presidents.

Whosoever controls the volume of money in any country is absolute master of all industry and commerce... And when you realise that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by a few powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate.

1892James Weaver (1833-1912) | Brevet Brigadier General

After the war he entered politics. In 1867, he was appointed a federal assessor of internal revenue. Later joined Greenback Party.

The sovereign right to regulate commerce among our magnificent union of States, and to control the instruments of commerce, the right to issue the currency and to determine the money supply for sixty-three billion people and their posterity, have been leased to associated speculators. The brightest lights of the legal profession have been lured away from their honorable relation to the people in the administration of justice, and through evolution in crime the corporation has taken the place of the pirate; and finally a bold and aggressive plutocracy has usurped the government and is using it as a policeman to enforce it's insolent decrees.

1893The Panic Circular | National Banker's Association

Senator Robert Owen first brought this to light while testifying before Congressional Committee, he had received this circular in his role as organiser and then President of the First National Bank of Muskogee.

You will at once retire one-third of your circulation (your paper money) and call in one-half of your loans. Be careful to make a monetary stringency among your patrons, especially among influential businessmen.

If banks were deliberately creating artificial crashes in 1893...

1913Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) | President

President 1913-21. The influence of foreign policy advisor and confidant "Colonel" Edward M. House is interesting to follow.

I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country.

A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.

Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me
privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.

1913Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) | President

26th President of US 1901-1909. One of fourteen Masons who have been US Presidents.

Society has no business to permit degenerates to reproduce their kind.... Any group of farmers who permitted their best stock not to breed, and let all the increase come from the worst stock, would be treated as fit inmates for an asylum.... Some day we will realize that the prime duty, the inescapable duty of the good citizens of the right type is to leave his or her blood behind him in the world; and that we have no business to permit the perpetuation of citizens of the wrong type. The great problem of civilization is to secure a relative increase of the valuable as compared with the less valuable or noxious elements in the population... The problem cannot be met unless we give full consideration to the immense influence of heredity...

I wish very much that the wrong people could be prevented entirely from breeding; and when the evil nature of these people is sufficiently flagrant, this should be done. Criminals should be sterilized and feebleminded persons forbidden to leave offspring behind them... The emphasis should be laid on getting desirable people to breed...

Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an Invisible government owing NO allegiance and acknowledging NO responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul this unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today.

1913Robert L Owen (1856-1947) | Bank President | Senator | Owen-Glass Federal Reserve Act

Organiser and President for 10 years of First National Muskogee Bank. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking and Currency, he was a key player (to his deep later regret) in the Owen-Glass Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

It would appear that there could be no subject of more supreme importance to the people of the United States than an understanding of money and its powers. It is remarkable, and a fact of surpassing importance, that the provision of the Constitution of the United States authorizing Congress exclusively to coin money and regulate the value thereof has been overlooked by American statesmen. Their failure to perceive the deep significance of this language of the Constitution has resulted in the indefensible expansion and contraction of money by private persons, bringing on monetary depressions periodically.

This quote must have been given long after he signed the Federal Reserve Act, since it did exactly what he here forbids - gave the right to print money to private persons. Nonetheless, I place it here as a helpful commentary on it by one of the signatories.

1917Professor Anthony Sutton (1925-2002) | Russia expert

Yes, sure this guy was written off as a nut, I know that, and so he shouldn't be here. Read him and learn he is sane. He is no joker, and praise God, you can find almost all his works published by his fans on the internet. More info.

Revolution and international finance are not at all inconsistent if the result of revolution is to establish more centralized authority.

I guess he was trying to help some strange things make sense to the average punter. Like Trotsky's arrest by the British authorities in Nova Scotia 1917, and subsequent release at the request of American ones. And why in New York he had been the guest of super capitalist John D. Rockefeller Jr., who obtained for him an U.S. passport. When he set off for Russia on the SS Christiana, he brought with him arms, 277 revolutionaries, and $20 million, supplied by the Wall Street banking firm of Kuhn, Loeb &Co... Much more could be said, but check out the Warburg (bank) and Lenin/Rothschild connection etc

Consider the image below as a demonstration of public knowledge (now lost), published by Robert Minor in St. Louis Post-Dispatch (1911). It portrays a bearded, beaming Karl Marx standing in Wall Street with Socialism tucked under his arm and accepting the congratulations of financial luminaries J.P. Morgan, Morgan partner George W. Perkins, a smug John D. Rockefeller, John D. Ryan of National City Bank, and Teddy Roosevelt ? prominently identified by his famous teeth ? in the background. Wall Street is decorated by Red flags. The cheering crowd and the airborne hats suggest that Karl Marx must have been a fairly popular sort of fellow in the New York financial district. Kind of interesting, especially to me as a former student of politics and history.

It is a relatively high res image, please right click and save to download, or open in new window. I will try and get a better image of this, cos in original it had "DEE-LIGHTED" at head.

1917Oscar Callaway (1872-1947) | U.S. Congressman

In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interests, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press of the United States. These 12 men worked the problem out by selecting 179 newspapers, and then began, by an elimination process to retain only those necessary for the purpose of controlling the general policy of the daily press throughout the country. They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest papers. The 25 papers were agreed upon; emissaries were sent to purchase the policy, national and international, of these papers; an agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers... This policy also included the suppression of everything in opposition to the wishes of the interests served.

1920Winston Churchill (1874-1965) | Prime Minister

From the days of Sparticus Wieshophf, Karl Marx, Trotski, Belacoon, Rosa Luxenburg, and Ema Goldman, this world conspiracy has been steadily growing. This conspiracy played a definite recognizable role in the tragedy of the French revolution. It has been the mainspring of every subversive movement during the 19th century. And now at last this band of extraordinary personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America have gripped the Russian people by the hair of their head and have become the undisputed masters of that enormous empire.

'Zionism versus Bolshevism', Illustrated Sunday Herald (London), February 8, 1920.

His views were no doubt influenced by The Protocols of the Elders of Zion (1903), which was uncovered as a \'hoax\' in 1921. I have no opinion on the matter just now. I certainly don\'t believe it to be as simple as Jewish world conspiracy, though clearly people claiming Jewish ethnicity have been heavily involved in such a thing (as Allen Bernstein, himself a Jew, observed in his book, Treason: A New World Order).

I include the quote because other evidence points to the connection between the French Revolution organisers and those of the later (but not dissimilar) Russian and Chinese revolutions. This simply provides high level backing that one is not alone in thinking there to be a real connection between them. The reference to extraordinary band of personalities could as well be to the Illuminati (who were by no means strictly Jewish) as to the \'elders of Zion\'. I do not have the full article to check context.

1924Reginald McKenna (1863-1943) | Chancellor of the Exchequer

Also chairman of Midland Bank Ltd 1919-1943.

I am afraid that the ordinary citizen will not like to be told that the banks can and do 'create' money, and they who control the credit of a nation direct the policy of the government and hold in the hollow of their hands, the destiny of the people.

1926Louis Brandeis (1856-1941) | US Supreme Court Justice

The doctrine of the separation of powers was adopted by the convention of 1787 not to promote efficiency but to preclude the exercise of arbitrary power. The purpose was not to avoid friction, but, by means of the inevitable friction incident to the distribution of the governmental powers among three departments, to save the people from autocracy. ...Speed and efficiency, however, are not the proper ends of government. If they were, the framers would have created a dictatorship.

Myers v. United States, 272 U.S. 52, 293, Justice Brandeis dissenting.

1927John F Hylan (1868-1936) | New York City Mayor

These international bankers and Rockefeller-Standard Oil interests control the majority of the newspapers and magazines in this country. They use the columns of these papers to club into submission or drive out of office public officials who refuse to do the bidding of the powerful corrupt cliques which compose the invisible government....

The warning of Theodore Roosevelt has much timeliness today, for the real menace of our republic is this invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over City, State, and nation... It seizes in its long and powerful tentacles our executive officers, our legislative bodies, our schools, our courts, our newspapers, and every agency created for the public protection...

To depart from mere generalisations, let me say that at the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller-Standard Oil interest and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as the international bankers. The little coterie of powerful international bankers virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes.

They practically control both parties, write political platforms, make catspaws of party leaders, use the leading men of private organisations, and resort to every device to place in nomination for high public office only such candidates as will be amenable to the dictates of corrupt big business...

This is an spelling out Benjamin Franklin's statement: "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for dinner." And he also added, "In a republic...the sheep would have a gun."

1931Dr Cornelius Rhoads (1898-1959) | Rockefeller Institute

During WWII, Rhoads headed two large chemical warfare projects, he had a seat on the AEC (Atomic Energy Commission), and he headed the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research.

The Puerto Ricans are the dirtiest, laziest, most dangerous and theivish race of men ever inhabiting this sphere... I have done my best to further the process of extermination by killing off eight and transplanting cancer into several more... All physicians take delight in the abuse and torture of the unfortunate subjects.

From a letter given by recipient to the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. Rhoads was investigated, but although he never denied writing the letter, the prosecutor said Rhoads was just a "mentally ill person or a man with few scruples," so he was never prosecuted.

1932Louis McFadden (1876-1936) | Chairman of the House Banking Committee

Shortly after his lashing out against the Federal Reserve in the House of Representatives, he sustained food poisoning and almost died.

The depression was not accidental. It was a carefully contrived occurence... The international bankers sought to bring about a condition of despair here so that they might emerge as the rulers of us all.

The Federal Reserve banks are one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever seen. There is not a man within the sound of my voice who does not know that this nation is run by the International bankers.

Some people think the Federal Reserve Banks are the United States government?s institutions. They are not government institutions. They are private credit monopolies which prey upon the people of the United States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign swindlers.

From his nine page statement about the Federal Reserve in the Congressional Record on June 10, 1932.

1933Smedley Butler (1881-1940) | Major General

2 times receiver of congressional medal of honour. Check his short book on war.

War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.

I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we'll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.

I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

There isn't a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its "finger men" to point out enemies, its "muscle men" to destroy enemies, its "brain men" to plan war preparations, and a "Big Boss" Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.

It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty- three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle- man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.

I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.

During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

1933Franklin Roosevelt (1882-1945) | President

Check an interesting book on this man by his son in law, Colonel Curtis B Dall: "FDR My Exploited Father-In-Law".

The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson - and I am not wholly excepting the Administration of W.W.

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.

Letter to Colonel House Nov 23rd, 1933. Andrew Jackson was president from 1829-1837. W.W. is Woodrow Wilson, president 1913-1921. Both quoted earlier in clear agreement.

Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death.

The 1933 engineering of the Reichstag fire and its politcal utilization provide a perfect example of what he was saying.

1934Sir Ralph Hawtrey (1879-1975) | Secretary of the British Treasury

When a bank lends, it creates money out of nothing.

When a bank lends, it creates credit. Against the advance which it enters amongst its assets, there is a deposit entered in its liabilities. But other lenders have not the mystical power of creating the means of payment out of nothing. What they lend must be money that they have acquired through their economic activities.

1935Joseph Stalin (1878-1953) | General Secretary

General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union's Central Committee - what a meek title, heh?

The easiest way to gain control of the population is to carry out acts of terror. The public will clamor for such laws if the personal security is threatened.

Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.

1940Sir Josiah Stamp (1880-1941) | Director of the Bank of England

Director of the Bank of England (1928-1941). Reputed to be second richest man in England in his day.

The modern banking system manufactures money out of nothing. The process is perhaps the most astounding piece of sleight of hand that was ever invented. Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin. Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough money to buy it back again...Take this great power away from them and all great fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for then this would be a better and happier world to live in. But if you want to continue to be slaves of the banks and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let bankers continue to create money and control credit.

1942John Foster Dulles (1888-1959) | a founder of CFR

Later Secretary of State. While Chairman of the Federal Council of Churches Commission issued the report containing this quote.

Head Mechanical Engineer of the U.S.A. Board of Economic Warfare

As a student of patents I asked for and received all the intercept information relating to strategic patents held by both our enemies and our own big corporations, and I found the same money was often operative on both sides in World War II.

1946Julian Huxley (1887-1975) | First director of UNESCO

Brother of Aldous. Unesco.org is pagerank 9, i.e. majorly important.

Political unification in some sort of world government will be required... Even though... any radical eugenic policy will be for many years politically and psychologically impossible, it will be important for UNESCO to see that the eugenic problem is examined with the greatest care, and that the public mind is informed of the issues at stake so that much that now is unthinkable may at least become thinkable.

Taken from UNESCO: Its Purpose and Its Philosophy. Having come just one year after that appalling instance of widespread eugenics in the 3rd Reich it is staggering that this comment has never been taught in schools. This book is still available in its entirety from the Unesco website, if this link has died, it is because they are embarrassed, in such an eventuality you may download the document from here also.

1950James Paul Warburg (1896-1969) | Banker

Son of Paul Warburg of Kuhn, Loeb & Co.; Council On Foreign Relations member; foreign agent for the Rothschild dynasty.

We shall have world government whether or not you like it - by conquest or consent.

Given while testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on February 17th.

1950James Stewart Martin | Head of Economic Warfare | Justice Department

We cannot allow the lack of social responsibility characteristic of the international behavior of private corporations during the last quarter century to become a pattern for government.

Prewar movies had pictured the goose stepping Nazis as the absolute masters of Germany. Our...questioning of Alfred Krupp and his works managers erased that impression. Adolf Hitler and his Party had never been allowed quite to forget that they had depended on the industrialists to put them in office, and that in future they could go further with the industrialists' help than without it.

We had not been stopped in Germany by German business... by American business. The forces that stopped us had operated from the United States but had not operated in the open. We were not stopped by a law of Congress, by an Executive Order of the President, or even by a change of policy approved by the President...in short, whatever it was that had stopped us was not `the government.' But it clearly had command of channels through which the government normally operates

The relative powerlessness of governments in the growing economic power is of course not new....ational governments have stood on the sidelines while bigger operators arranged the world?s affairs.

The men who possess real power in this country have no intention of ending the cold war.

The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and press, usually the Church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them.

The release of atom power has changed everything except our way of thinking... the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker.

The second quote from a letter to Sigmund Freud, 30 July 1932.

The third quote does not exactly bear on our subject, but is here as it interestingly points to the only ultimate solution - a change of Man's heart. Something only the Israelite and Christian scriptures said God would (and did) provide in the New Covenant made by the blood of the Christ: "I will take out your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."

The reason for this statement was after WW2 when communication between Moscow and the U.S. Communist party became difficult, she was instructed if she ever had an emergency to contact one of three people that lived in the Waldorf Towers. What puzzled her was that none of the three were Russians, but all extremely wealthy capitalists, and they were never later overruled by Moscow - what they said went.

You will note if you read about him, that what he says in this quote runs contrary to much of what he says elsewhere. Yet he does say it, you can check it out on Amazon's "search inside" function. I did! - I found it too incompatible with the public image I was being presented by Wikipedia.

I do not pretend that birth control is the only way in which population can be kept from increasing... War... has hitherto been dissappointing in this respect, but perhaps bacteriological war may prove more effective. If a Black Death could be spread throughout the world once in every generation survivors could procreate freely without making the world too full... The state of affairs might be somewhat unpleasant, but what of that? Really high-minded people are indifferent to happiness, especially other people's... There are three ways of securing a society that shall be stable as regards population. The first is that of birth control, the second that of infanticide or really destructive wars, and the third that of general misery except for a powerful minority...

War has been throughout history, the chief source of social cohesion by providing an external necessity for a society to accept political rule.

1961John F Kennedy (1917-1963) | President

For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence - on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match.

1961Dwight Eisenhower (1890-1969) | Supreme Commander | President

Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force

Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence - economic, political, even spiritual - is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

President Clinton has publicly paid homage to the influence Professor Quigley had on his life.

There does exist and has existed for a generation, an international ... network which operates, to some extent, in the way the radical right believes the Communists act. In fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table Groups, has no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, or any other groups and frequently does so. I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960s, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. I have objected, both in the past and recently, to a few of its policies... but in general my chief difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known.

Within the next 5 to 10 years it would be possible to produce a synthetic biological agent, an agent that does not naturally exist and for which no natural immunity could have been acquired... It would probably be possible to make a new infective micro-organism which could differ in certain important respects from any known disease-causing organisms. Most important of these is that it might be refractory to the immunological and therapeutic processes upon which we depend to maintain our relative freedom from infectious disease.

Now as nearly as I can make out, those fellows in the CIA don't just report on wars and the like, they go out and make their own and there is nobody to keep track of what they are up to. They spend billions of dollars on stirring up trouble so they will have something to report on. They've become... it's become a government of all its own and all secret. We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been quite impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, now that the world is more sophisticated, it is prepared to march towards a world government and accept the supranational sovereignty of an intellectual and financial elite, which is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries?

There are some reports, for example, that some countries have been trying to construct something like an Ebola Virus, and that would be a very dangerous phenomenon, to say the least.

Alvin Toeffler has written about this in terms of some scientists in their laboratories trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would be ethnic specific so that they could just eliminate certain ethnic groups and races; and others are designing some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops.

Others are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves.

So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon othernations.
It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that's why this is so important.

I can state: the planning of the attacks was technically and organizationally a master achievement. To hijack four huge airplanes within a few minutes, and within one hour to drive them into their targets, with complicated flight maneuvers! This is unthinkable, without years-long support from secret apparatuses of the state and industry...

I have real difficulties, however, to imagine that all this all sprung out of the mind of an evil man in his cave.

In the analysis of political processes, I am allowed to look and see who has advantages and disadvantages, and what is coincidental. When in doubt, it is always worthwhile to take a look at a map, where are raw materials resources, and the routes to them? Then lay a map of civil wars and conflicts on top of that ? they coincide. The same is the case with the third map: nodal points of the drug trade. Where this all comes together, the American intelligence services are not far away.

Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University

IN THE 1920s and 1930s, scientists from both the political left and right would not have found the idea of designer babies particularly dangerous - though of course they would not have used that phrase. Today, I suspect that the idea is too dangerous for comfortable discussion, and my conjecture is that Adolf Hitler is responsible for the change.

Nobody wants to be caught agreeing with that monster, even in a single particular. The spectre of Hitler has led some scientists to stray from "ought" to "is" and deny that breeding for human qualities is even possible. But if you can breed cattle for milk yield, horses for running speed, and dogs for herding skill, why on Earth should it be impossible to breed humans for mathematical, musical or athletic ability? Objections such as "these are not one-dimensional abilities" apply equally to cows, horses and dogs and never stopped anybody in practice.

I wonder whether, some 60 years after Hitler's death, we might at least venture to ask what the moral difference is between breeding for musical ability and forcing a child to take music lessons. Or why it is acceptable to train fast runners and high jumpers but not to breed them. I can think of some answers, and they are good ones, which would probably end up persuading me. But hasn't the time come when we should stop being frightened even to put the question?
